Day #02 - Avro
For Day 2, the focus is on Avro lofts in Manchester, where we're back doing what we do best, in one of Manchester's last untouched Victorian Mills.
At Avro, we're creating 31 traditional, canalside loft apartments; some of the biggest in Manchester. Set over five floors our one, two and three bedroom lofts range from 829 - 2,600 sq ft, with feature walls of exposed brickwork and cast iron columns. The former triple storey 'Engine House' is now a unique three-storey town house at the heart of the development.

Day #03 - Smith's Dock
Today we're moving our focus North to Smith's Dock, our new community in North Shields that we're creating with our partners Places for People.
Smith’s Dock is taking its place at the heart of a new neighbourhood. A modern coastal community just a stone’s skim from the city centre. Making the most of the waterside location, it will be home to beautiful contemporary living and thoughtfully designed public spaces and plenty of places to eat, drink and play.

Day #04 - Town House
It's all about Modular today as we focus on our award-winning Town Houses, family homes designed by you and built by us in our very own factory.
Designed by award-winning architects shedkm, Town House has sold out at New Islington in Manchester and Smith's Dock in North Shields. Next year we'll be bringing our homes to Port Loop in Birmingham, as well as releasing the next phase for sale at New Islington. Be sure to register your interest to be kept in the loop as we bring Town House to more sites around the country.

Fab House is a home to suit your wonderful/ stressful/ single/ married/ lazy/ busy/ youthful/ restful/ blissful life, in a place that changes, adapts and evolves as your life does.
The name says it all, really. Or at least quite a lot. Fab is essentially a special edition of House; a unique and innovative design created by one of the most respected minds in modern housing, George Clarke. Using his years of knowledge and experience in architecture all over the world, George has helped us create a home that’s perfect for modern living.

Day #06 - Ropewalks
It's Day 6 of our Christmas competition, and today our focus turns to Liverpool, as we take a look at Ropewalks, a collection of award-winning commercial buildings in the heart of Liverpool city centre.
We've had a really busy year at Ropewalks! Not only have we produced our new brochure, but we've been working hard on creating brand new communal spaces for our tenants in Tea Factory and Vanilla Factory, as well as welcoming exciting new tenants such as Mother, Smiling Wolf and vegan restaurant operators Frost Burgers.

Day #07 - Smokehouses
We're back up to Smith's Dock in North Shields today as we turn our attention to Smokehouses. Coastal living meets contemporary design right at the river’s edge. Designed by SimpsonHaugh architects; these modern, spacious, one, two and three bedroom apartments make the most of incredible panoramic views across the River Tyne.
When creating Smokehouses, the design team reflected on the history of the site. They took inspiration from the quayside where a number of warehouses line the river along with the traditional smoke houses of the Fish Quay. The design for Smokehouses responds directly to these buildings, especially their industrial edge, from the shape of the buildings to the red zinc that wraps over the sides to form the roof. Now, when you hop on a ferry and look across the river, the Smokehouses will lock seamlessly into the view along the quayside, blending the past with the future.

Day #08 - Port Loop
We're heading to Birmingham for day 8 of our competition and taking a look at Port Loop, a new future neighbourhood we're creating with our partners Places for People, Canal & River Trust and Birmingham City Council.
Places for People and Urban Splash have put a new masterplan in place to transform this area into an exciting new community of homes and leisure facilities, to include a new swimming pool, reinvented existing historical buildings and over 1.5km of new towpaths; creating moorings, cycleways and walkways to the city, there’s even a waterbus stop!
Building new homes is just the start for Port Loop, working with our partners Birmingham City Council and the Canal & River Trust, the site will offer commercial and leisure spaces too. The canals and towpaths surrounding Port Loop offer the perfect opportunity to reconnect the city with a great new neighbourhood for residents, businesses and visitors to the city alike.
A destination for both tourist and working barges; providing, play facilities, wildlife corridors, community parks & areas to meet.

Day #09 - Copper Building
Day 9 and it's off the South West to take at look at Copper Building in Bristol. Copper Building is the latest addition to our Lakeshore story, adding the final touch to this special place located in the heart of South Bristol. Brand new one and two bedroom lakeside apartments nestled in 10 acres of lush private gardens. Sitting right next door to Lakeshore, our iconic Grade II Listed former headquarters of Imperial Tobacco.
Copper Building makes the most of views across the park to the hills beyond. Modernist in style and clad in copper, the building harks back to the neighbouring Cor-ten steel Bristol landmark that we converted into new homes back in 2011.
We believe in the power of design to improve lives, and this belief underpins our plans for Copper Building.

Day #10 - It Will Never Work
Day 10 of our competition and we round off by taking a look at our new book. “It Will Never Work” is a review of the first 25 years of Urban Splash, set against the wider context of the socio-political climate and the particular challenges of the day. It explores cross-cutting themes that represent our philosophy and aims to distill our thinking into a manifesto for successful and sustainable futures for our towns and cities.
For Urban Splash “It Will Never Work” is something we have heard many times, and has always been a call to action rather than a discouragement. It was the obvious title for the touring exhibition we collaborated on with the RIBA, and for this book exploring 25 years of our successful urban regeneration projects.
Remember to follow us Twitter and Instagram to be in with a chance to win a copy of our book and all the other brochures featured throughout our campaign.
