Urban Splash Newsplash - May 2026
Welcome to our May 2026 edition of the Newsplash – a round up of all things Urban Splash.
32 years on from our first regeneration projects, we continue to focus on creating places with character, community and long-term impact, with thousands more homes and workspaces still to come.
This month, that includes some blooming big news from Park Hill, a packed summer of events in Plymouth, new commercial deals in the North West, and UKREiiF conversations shaping what’s next for our towns and cities.
Plus, there’s our home and workspaces of the month, as well as some features on Park Hill in the Sheffield Tribune and Port Loop in the FT Weekend.

RHS Garden takes permanent root at Park Hill
We’re proud to be supporting the transformation of a CPRE centenary RHS Chelsea Flower Show garden, which will take permanent root at Park Hill in Sheffield. Created by award-winning designer Sarah Eberle, the garden will be relocated to the estate this summer, adding a new green space for residents and continuing a regeneration journey that has helped define Urban Splash over the last 20 years.

Work begins on a new phase at Park Hill
And it wasn’t just flowers in bloom at Park Hill this month, as alongside our partners Places for People, we announced the appointment of GMI Construction Group to deliver the next phase of Park Hill in Sheffield. This phase will add 125 new homes to the hundreds of homes we’ve already created here, alongside enhanced public realm, EV charging and cycle storage.

A summer of events in Plymouth
A busy summer programme is underway at Royal William Yard, with hundreds of visitors already enjoying events at Plymouth’s waterfront destination. Highlights include the newly launched Hai Coo Trail, a temporary public installation celebrating haiku and Japanese short-form poetry running until 31st May. There’s also an Affordable Art Market, SUP sessions, wine tastings, quiz nights and the monthly Good Food Market returning on 7 June.

4,000 sq ft of commercial deals in the North West
Over the last 32 years, we’ve created more than 2 million sq ft of workspace, helping hundreds of businesses grow across the UK. This month, that includes deals on 4,321 sq ft of space in the North West – including at Boat Shed in Salford Quays, where Fit Crunch and Yü Energy have both moved in. Other deals include lettings and renewals at Mersey House at Matchworks and Vanilla Factory in Liverpool’s Ropewalks district.

We’re at UKREiiF next week
Many of our Urban Splash colleagues will be speaking at UKREiiF next week, sharing insights from our 32-year regeneration journey. Speakers include Suzy Jones, Simon Gawthorpe, Mark Latham and Tom Bloxham CBE MBE, who will draw on our track record of 6,000 homes and 2 million sq ft of workspace, as well as our 5,000-home pipeline.

Meet Nala’s Pet Co. at Royal William Yard
Arcade, our latest retail and leisure concept at Brewhouse in Royal William Yard, is now home to a selection of businesses from womenswear boutiques to coffee shops, but first to join the building was Nala’s Pet Co., a high-end pet store specialising in natural and sustainable products. Here we meet founder Tom Hall who tells us more.

Home of the month:
9 Factory Cooperage, Plymouth
A rare opportunity to live at Royal William Yard, our waterfront neighbourhood in Plymouth. 9 Factory Cooperage has been developed by our friends Poppy Developments and is a three-bedroom home offering 969 sq ft of space, filled with exposed stone, cast-iron columns and vaulted ceilings. Outside there’s a shared courtyard and all of the culture and community the Yard has to offer.

Space of the month:
2.07 Boat Shed, Salford
Throughout our 30-plus-year-history we’ve shown we’re all about reinvention; it’s not our style to rip it up and start again, and Boat Shed is a great example – a 90s office block transformed into modern workspaces for creative, professional and growing businesses. Unit 2.07 is one of our last remaining workspaces here, offering 1,214 sq ft, with onsite parking and flexible, characterful space.
