Urban Splash Newsplash - January 2026

    19 January 2026
A 6 minute read by Tom Bloxham

Welcome to our January 2026 edition of the Urban Splash Newsplash – looking ahead to 2026.

We’ve got a busy year in store at Urban Splash, with new places taking shape right across the country and hundreds more homes and workspaces on the way. With a pipeline of more than 5,000 homes, it’s fair to say we’re heading into the year with plenty to be excited about.

Here’s a snapshot of what’s coming up over the next 12 months.

L to R: Martin Edwards of Places for People, Ruth Clifford of Homes England, Mark Latham of Urban Splash and Carla Duval of Homes England.

Our £6.4m partnership deal with Homes England

We’ve completed a £6.4m partnership deal with Homes England, allowing work to start on the next phase of our Grade II listed Park Hill. In partnership with Places for People, we’ll now deliver another 125 new homes, as well as new public realm, EV charging, a car club and bike storage – helping bring even more life back to this Sheffield icon.

Our vision for Cole Brothers in Sheffield

    Meanwhile at Cole Brothers…

We’re pushing ahead at another Sheffield landmark – the Cole Brothers building at Barker’s Pool. Having ended 2025 on a high – including our Christmas party – we’re now developing plans for a new mix of leisure, entertainment and retail at ground level, with offices above, alongside a growing programme of meanwhile-use events delivered with partners across the city.

We're bringing more new homes to Campbell Park in Milton Keynes in partnership with Glenbrook

    Pursuing partnership projects

We’re also progressing plans for new Urban Splash places in Merseyside and Milton Keynes. In Liverpool, following our appointment by the City Council last year, we’re working with igloo Regeneration on proposals for Festival Gardens, while in Milton Keynes we’re working through planning at Campbell Park North with our partners Glenbrook.

We're working with Swansea Council to develop sites across the city

    Seven sites for Swansea

We’re proud to be working with Swansea Council to develop seven sites across this vibrant Welsh city. We received early stage cabinet approval on 150+ homes and commercial space at St Thomas, and we’re hosting a public consultation showcasing the Civic Centre proposals on 28–29th January at Y Storfa. Everyone’s welcome to join and have their say.

Bringing the community together at Port Loop in Birmingham

Creating new community amenities at Port Loop

Work at the award-winning Port Loop continues to progress too. Having completed the Mansion House apartments in 2025 with our partners Places for People, we’re now collaborating with CIVIC SQUARE and Hood Futures Studio – two local cultural organisations to evolve ideas for new community amenities in the Tubeworks building.

    Royal William Yard in Plymouth

New homes and opportunities at Royal William Yard

Our long-term work at Royal William Yard in Plymouth will remain a focus this year too. Home to local, regional, and international businesses like Everyman Cinemas, Seco Lounge, Hook & Line, Le Vignoble and Bistrot Pierre, the Yard also welcomed a new occupier this month as DockSide Coffee Bar opened its doors. There's a vibrant Spring events programme underway too with Live Music Sundays and a Soirée Gastronomique which embraces French dining.

We're looking for ambitious new colleagues to join our team

    We’re hiring more great people

We’re growing our team with likeminded, ambitious colleagues this year too, and right now, we’re looking for a Finance Assistant to join US in Manchester. Details of the role are here, with the successful person working across residential rental activities within the Urban Splash family of companies.

And you can join us at events too

Our team will be heading out, shaping the discourse at property events around the world again this year, starting this March at MIPIM where, amongst other things you can hear our Chairman and co-founder Tom Bloxham MBE take to the main stage to talk about the regeneration of Manchester.
