Urban Splash Newsplash - February 2025
Welcome to our February 2025 edition of the Urban Splash Newsplash – your handy round-up of all the things Urban Splash
This month, our colleague David Warburton has been speaking in Wales and sharing our vision for Swansea, where we're working with Swansea Council on key sites across the city. Our Chairman Tom reflects on our recent Architecture Today award win and shares his thoughts on his passion for design. We speak to Stuart Mills of Canal & River Trust on how our work at Port Loop is bringing life back to the waterside community. We also welcome some new colleagues to our team, and we're on the hunt for some talented people in Manchester and Plymouth. Read on to find out more.

Shaping our vision for Swansea
We’re thrilled to be shaping a vision for the future of Swansea, working with the local authority on seven sites across the city. This month, our colleague David Warburton spoke at a South Wales Business Insider event in the city, updating delegates on our vision and sharing insights from our City on the Beach sketchbook.

A passion for design. Not fashion.
We’ve been awarded Architecture Today’s first ever Outstanding Contribution Award – recognition of our “pioneering work in valuing existing buildings.” Our Chairman spoke to the magazine about his passion for design over fashion, saying: “Great design lasts forever – if we build buildings that are honest and stand the test of time.”

“We can make life by the water truly extraordinary”
Our canalside homes at Mansion House, Port Loop are now available, giving residents the chance to embrace life by the water’s edge. In this new article, Stuart Mills of the Canal & River Trust shares insights into the appeal of waterside living and how Port Loop is redefining how people interact with the canal.

Awards news for our Urban Splash places
Several projects have been nominated for industry awards. Royal William Yard is shortlisted for a BCO Award; Campbell Park in Milton Keynes is up for a Pineapples award, while a light installation at Waulk Mill was recognised at the LIT Design Awards. In other awards news, our co-founder Jonathan Falkingham has been appointed as a judge for the 2025 Davidson Prize.

Welcoming our newest colleagues
