Welcome to our November edition of Newsplash - a monthly round-up of all things Urban Splash, featuring new homes, scheme launches, commercial news and much more.

This month, we've got news on our latest acquisition at New Islington in Manchester, our 25th overall spanning the last few years. There's some updates from the US Residential Fund on their latest homes to come to market at Derwent House in Birmingham, and also news from Plymouth where we've started work on the Civic Centre in the city. There's news from our Commercial team, who have had another successful month of lettings, with more workspace available at Matchworks in Liverpool. We wound things off with some awards news and some updates from our friends at Manchester International Festival. Read on to find out more.

We have purchased the site at New Islington, expanding our land in the area having completed an off-market deal. It is our 25th acquisition in the past five years and you can read more about them all on our blog.

Urban Splash Residential Fund makes £12m acquisition in Birmingham

The Urban Splash Residential Fund has continued a year of acquisitions with the £12m purchase of Derwent House – a Grade II listed building of 40, one- and two-bedroom duplex homes and lofts in the city’s Jewellery Quarter. The investment comes in an active year for the Fund; the investment portfolio now exceeds £70m with more than 300 homes spread across Manchester, Sheffield, Cambridge, Bristol, Birmingham and Bradford.

Melville at Royal William Yard in Plymouth

We’ve welcomed new customers into 13,700 sq ft of workspace

Our commercial colleagues have welcomed new businesses into our workspace across the country this month, completing deals on more than 13,700 sq ft of space. The biggest single transaction was completed with accountants PKF Francis Clark, which confirmed it would move into more than 8,000 sq ft of space at Melville in Royal William Yard saying the space reflects their “ambition to be a great place to work in every sense”. Other deals completed in Manchester, Salford and Liverpool.

    A look around Matchworks

The way we work is changing, and that’s why Matchworks in South Liverpool is filled not only with well-designed, restored art deco workspace, but also places to eat, drink, socialise, workout, and play. In this new guest blog, our agent at the scheme, Andrew Byrne of CBRE, talks about the Matchworks’ unique offering and why businesses love to base themselves there. Watch a video of the workspace available at Matchworks above, and read more on our blog.
