Feeding the fleet
Located near the entrance of Royal William Yard, Slaughterhouse is a unique building set around a distinctive triangular internal courtyard opening out onto the boardwalk.
Built in 1831 to support the Navy’s food supply, Slaughterhouse was a busy 19th-century meat-processing and preservation building that played a key role in provisioning ships for long voyages.
As with the other restored buildings across the Yard, we have retained the beautifully textured original stone walls, exposed wooden beams and steel columned colonnade. The building is now home to Wildwood, serving up a combination of classic and modern signature dishes for all occasions.
