Flushed with pride, our toilets go global
We’re always on the lookout for great causes to support – and in this blog, our Head of Brand Rachel Thomas shares why our latest move is not only a brilliant brand moment, but also one that helps communities internationally.
When we give our buildings a refresh, it’s usually about making life better for our customers. But sometimes a little sparkle can have a much bigger impact – and that’s exactly what’s happened at Tea Factory in Liverpool’s Ropewalks.
This summer, our team refurbished all 15 loos at the Tea Factory. It might sound like a small upgrade, but we’re genuinely proud of the new facilities, and that pride inspired us to take things a step further.
So we’ve made some new friends internationally and twinned every single facility with toilets in South Sudan and Mozambique through the Toilet Twinning charity.
So what does that mean? In short, our Liverpool loos now have “pals” overseas. But more importantly, the Toilet Twinning programme helps families adopt healthy hygiene habits and supports them in building their own toilets using local materials. It’s fun to think about our toilets having twins abroad, but the real story is about dignity, safety, and community health.
This might not be the most glamorous part of our work, but for me it sums up the way we like to do things by combining the practical with the purposeful and making a difference far beyond our buildings.
