    Sales office open for phase two of Park Hill

    The Sales Office for phase two of Park Hill, showcasing the entire site and plans of the accommodation available, has opened ahead Saturday 29th February, when the first release of off-plan homes - to include one bed from £135,000, two bed from £160,000 and three bed from £195,000 - will go on sale.

    Residents for phase two are expected to move in during summer 2021 - and interest is already high, with a long waiting list of prospective buyers.

    This new phase of Park Hill, the award-winning joint venture between Urban Splash and Places for People, will see a further 195 homes; 20,000 sq ft of mixed-use commercial space providing the opportunity for a variety of offices and workspaces - as well as a new café, restaurant and terrace.

    Guy Ackernley, on behalf of the joint venture partners, comments: “Phase two is the next chapter in the renaissance of this iconic building. We have worked to create a new style of living spaces that are slightly different in their configuration to those in phase one, yet sympathetic to the original design and look.

    “Anticipation and expectation is high given the attention Park Hill attracts, but we are confident we have delivered what residents will want.”

    The latest homes have been designed by Stirling Prize winning architects Mikhail Riches and include 1, 2 and 3 bed flats and 2-bedroom townhouses, retaining the duplex and double aspect layout with balconies.

    Founding Director of Mikhail Riches, Annalie Riches said: “We are delighted to be working on phase two of Park Hill and playing a part in saving this important building. Our phase looks at keeping more of the original fabric and upgrading it. We hope that the work being carried out by all involved in the various phases demonstrates it is possible to reuse buildings of this era.”

    Sheffield based furniture retailer, Nest was appointed to furnish the sales office and showroom of the historic Park Hill building, one of the earliest examples of Brutalist architecture in Britain.

    Commenting on the appointment Gemma Trebble, New Business Consultant at Nest, said: “It’s an amazing opportunity to be able to work on such an iconic building and be a part of this award-winning venture.

    “To be able to aid the rebirth of such a Sheffield landmark and contribute to the beauty of the city is a huge honour, and we couldn’t be more pleased to take on this contract.”

    Phase one of Park Hill is now successfully complete, with over 700 people living and working in 260 homes alongside 33,0000 sq ft of commercial space, a vegetarian café and a nursery.

    In September students are also set to join the community. Led by development partner Alumno, award-winning specialists in design and development of modern accommodation for students, the next phase will provide 4- and 8-bedroom townhouses, 2- and 4-bedroom apartments as well as classic studios for 356 students.

    The fourth element will involve the creation of a landmark gallery for S1 Artspace. S1 Artspace already based at Park Hill presents an annual programme of contemporary exhibitions and has secured planning permission for phase four. Called Park Hill Artspace this will provide a permanent home for the organization and will feature one of the largest contemporary art galleries in the North of England as well as artist studios, workspace for creative businesses, learning and community studios, heritage flats, accommodation for visiting artists, a gallery shop and café plus further residential properties provided by Urban Splash.

    Park Hill was constructed between 1957 and 1961 and its streets in the sky was seen as pioneering.

    In total over £100 million will be invested in regenerating this Brutalist masterpiece and returning it into a key Sheffield destination.

    The regeneration of Park Hill has won many property and community awards and was shortlisted for the RIBA Stirling Prize in 2013.
