Meet US - 5 minutes with Pete Hadfield
With over one million sq ft of workspace in our portfolio, from traditional offices to restaurants, retail spaces, leisure facilities and more, our Commercial team is focused on creating and managing places our customers are proud to work in.
Asset Manager, Pete Hadfield, helps keep things running smoothly across our sites in Manchester, Liverpool and Sheffield, overseeing everything from lease renewals to budgets and maintenance. We caught up with Pete to find out more about his day-to-day role, highlights from the past year and what’s coming next as we enter an exciting new phase of investment and innovation.

Behind the scenes
“I know it’s a bit of a cliché, but the phrase ‘no two days are the same’ really does sum up my role perfectly. I’m lucky enough to get to work with a variety of colleagues across the business as well as our appointed agents and joint venture partners.
“As Asset Manager, service charges, lease renewals, capex works and organising building maintenance all fall under my remit. I also get to run a great team of people including our Boat Shed host, Lindsay Noel and Maintenance Operative, Stuart White.”

A helping hand
“Supporting our customers with their own business goals is a big part of what we do in the asset management team. We're here to help with whatever they need, and we’ll always go the extra mile when we can. Our approach is incredibly flexible – from lease terms to workspace layouts, furnished or unfurnished packages – almost everything can be tailored to suit their needs.
“Over the past year, I’ve completed lease renewals on more than 10,000 sq ft of workspace. It’s always rewarding to retain a customer and support them as they grow, reshape, or even downsize within our portfolio depending on their goals.”

Fit for the future
“We’re always looking to make our workspaces the very best they can be. This can be anything from adding or upgrading existing facilities within a building, giving our communal spaces a facelift or reimagining a space completely.
“At Tea Factory in Liverpool, I’m currently overseeing a series of projects across the building to give our customers the best possible experience. We want our customers to get the most out of working in our buildings, so flexibility and attention to detail is essential.

Inspiring the next generation
“Earlier this year, I had the pleasure of working with Nottingham Trent University to show second year Real Estate students around Vanilla Factory and Tea Factory in Liverpool. It was great to give the students an insight into a career in property and give them the opportunity to experience a small part of our portfolio.
“It’s something I’d love to do more of in the future; inspiring the next generation into careers in property is important to make sure we have new talent shaping the future of the industry, and being able to play even a small part in this is rewarding.”

“We’ve got lots of exciting opportunities in the pipeline including upgrades to our spaces in Liverpool and plans for commercial spaces at the iconic Cole Brothers in Sheffield. It’s a great time to be involved and I’m looking forward to seeing what we create alongside our valued partners and agents across our schemes.”
