    Celebrating great talent

    19 October 2022
A 3 minute read by Bethany Gradwell

Urban Splash is an inspiring workplace filled with original thinkers, rebels at heart, natural collaborators who want to do a great job each day. This week we have celebrated some of those great colleagues, with promotions across the business and here, newly-promoted Bethany Gradwell tells us more.

Urban Splash is a great business to work in. I’ve been here over a year now, joining as People Coordinator – a great job that means I get to meet all of the brilliant colleagues across our company.

I’ve valued the opportunities given to me along the way and have worked with some amazingly inspiring people that have helped me to grow my role within our business. And, with the support of others in my team, this has given me the ability to develop many skills within this business area. As a result of this investment into my development, alongside my enthusiasm to take on more responsibility, I’ve recently been promoted to a People Partner role – a position that I’m really excited about.

As a business partnering role, I can’t wait to be more involved in really progressive areas such as the implementation of the people plan which will involve addressing our Urban Splash business strategy from a people perspective – something that I am hugely passionate about. Working within the People team, this will involve, amongst other activities, addressing challenges and offering guidance in all people areas. I love working with our colleagues to help develop solutions and assist where specialist HR help is required.

Cheryl, Dave and Aliceson from our Residential team

And I’m just one out of a whole range of people across all of our business areas who have been recognised for their great work and proactivity – within the residential team three of my colleagues have been celebrated for their contribution. As a New Tenancy Coordinator, Cheryl Prince has been promoted from her previous Residential Administrator role where she will be dealing with new tenants, actively managing the beginning of the tenancy process and supporting our customers as they go through the exciting moving in process.

Whilst new Residential Tenancy Manager, Aliceson Hurst who has been with the business for 15 years, has moved up from her previous New Tenancy Coordinator position to work as part of this team in looking after property management. This important role involves ensuring that rent and debt collection is managed effectively. The team has also seen Dave Morgan become Associate Director, Residential in a move that builds on his previous Head of Residential Asset Management role. Dave has been a valued member of the business for over 21 years – he holds an amazing record of experience of keeping our customers happy and ensuring that the asset management department is run smoothly. His new role will involve heading up the asset management department, ensuring all functions and processes run accordingly and that customer needs are continually met. Dave will also undertake the essential job of maintaining the property portfolio, alongside future planning and strategy whilst developing the growth of the fund.

Bethany, Chris and colleagues from our Residential team celebrating recent promotions

And finally, we are so pleased that after just over a year with the business, Chris Lane, who is a part of our finance team, has become a Management Accountant. In his promotion from Senior Finance Assistant, Chris will play a big role within the finance team with activities including preparing month end/year end accounts for the majority of the Special Projects and JV companies, Filing VAT and CIS Returns for the same companies, assisting with the 18 month cash flow forecast and staff expenses.

I know that I’m not alone in appreciating the opportunities that working at Urban Splash brings. As part of this incredible team we are lucky to be growing our talent alongside plucky pioneers, inspiring leaders and colleagues who are known and respected for challenging the status quo within the industry.
