Urban Splash appoints Handslip as Head of Lettings

    01 July 2011

Emily, who has been with the company since 2006, will be tasked with overseeing commercial lettings across the 2 million sq ft Urban Splash commercial portfolio. She will be looking after office, retail and leisure space at schemes around the country, in addition to managing new schemes currently under construction including the redevelopment of Park Hill in Sheffield and New Cooperage, part of the Royal William Yard scheme in Plymouth.

Speaking of the news, Emily said: “I am thrilled to have taken my career with Urban Splash to the next level. The company’s approach to design and quality and its commitment to creating vibrant commercial communities has kept me hooked for the past five years! I can’t wait to take on the next set of challenges.

Prior to the appointment Handslip had been responsible for letting space in the Midlands and South West. Originally a chartered surveyor working for DTZ in Birmingham, she began her Urban Splash career at Fort Dunlop, managing lettings at the scheme which is now 97% let, which is its highest level since the building was completed in 2006. The biggest lettings there overseen by Emily include 54,000 sq ft of office space to Trinity Mirror.

Her remit then expanded and she was tasked with letting commercial space at the historic waterfront Royal William Yard scheme in Plymouth. There she secured the wave of first lettings in Mills Bakery to national restaurant chains Prezzo and Loungers, along with a series of other lettings including the Ministry of Defence and Balfour Beatty, which has resulted in the 60,000 sq ft of space being 100% let.

Urban Splash director Nathan Cornish commented: “Our commercial portfolio is a crucial part of the Urban Splash business. It caters for such a broad range of businesses given that it offers spaces from 100 sq ft right up to 54,000 sq ft units. The role Emily has taken on will help us reach even more great businesses to join our schemes.”
