Meet US - 5 minutes with Sian Stanhope
Our development team are responsible for bringing all our schemes to life, from Royal William Yard in Plymouth to New Islington in Manchester and everything in between.
Development Manager, Sian Stanhope, oversees our Sheffield sites – Park Hill and Cole Brothers – working with our partners to give the schemes a new lease of life.
We caught up with Sian to find out more about her day-to-day role, highlights from the past year and what’s coming next as we continue shaping the next chapter of Sheffield’s cityscape.

From student to city shaper
I joined Urban Splash almost a year ago now, and what a journey it’s been so far! I was drawn to the opportunity to work on two huge Sheffield icons – Park Hill and Cole Brothers – after studying in the city and living here ever since.
“My previous role was in the public sector getting projects up to the planning stages, so it was great to transition client-side where I could oversee projects right through to completion. It’s a privilege to play a part in creating the future of both Park Hill and Cole Brothers and take the projects forward for future generations.”

Responsible regeneration
“The people of Sheffield care deeply about Park Hill and Cole Brothers, and there’s a real sense of responsibility around reinventing each development in the right way.
“I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know the residents at Park Hill over the last year, hearing their views on the phases we have completed so far and their ideas as we come to develop the next phases. No one tells the story of Park Hill better than those who live there, and I appreciate how passionate they are about the community and its future.
“Park Hill is a great example of what we can achieve when we work closely with our trusted partners. We can’t do it on our own, and creating and maintaining relationships with our partners is key to our success in its regeneration."

An icon reborn
“There’s been a lot going on behind the scenes at Cole Brothers in the city centre. Working alongside Sheffield City Council and architects AHMM, we’ve finalised our plans for the building from its potential future uses to how it will knit in with the rest of the Council’s Heart of the City masterplan.

“We’ve also welcomed people back into the building, including students from Regeneration Brainery, where we led a collaborative session on designing public consultations and took the students on a tour of the building. Part of the ground floor space was also used to host the BBC Sounds fringe events during Crossed Wires Festival back in July – it was great to see the building full of energy and excitement again.
“I’m really looking forward to the future of Cole Brothers, working with our partners to deliver one of Sheffield’s most exciting regeneration projects and bringing people, jobs and creativity right back into the centre of the city.”

Shaping the future
“Alongside my project work, I’m currently mentoring two Sheffield City Council graduates through the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) process to becoming Chartered Surveyors, helping more young people and in this case, women, enter and thrive in the property industry.

“I’m also looking forward to building on my speaking opportunities over the coming years to spread the word about our progress at Cole Brothers and Park Hill, both at industry events and across the wider Sheffield community.”
