Making moves in Liverpool, as Urban Splash lets 20,000 sq ft and brings more businesses into the city’s creative scene
Award-winning regeneration company Urban Splash has completed lettings on more than 20,000 sq ft of space in Liverpool - welcoming new occupiers from the city’s creative scene.
Among the deals is a letting to Rare Studio, with the company taking 8,345sqft across five units in the Vanilla Factory in the city’s Ropewalks district, meaning the building is now 100% let.
Founded in 2011, Rare has made the move to accommodate customer demand accommodating over 200 full-time students and 150 part time. The business counts the foundations of former Liverpool FC footballers Jamie Carragher and Steven Gerrard among its funders as Lindsay Inglesby of Rare Studio explained: “We’re absolutely thrilled to take on this fantastic new space”.
“It will allow our centre for performing arts and fashion and design excellence to grow, expanding training in acting, dance, musical theatre, fashion and design. This move means we can offer even more opportunities for young people across Liverpool and the wider region, nurturing talent and helping students achieve their potential. The Vanilla Factory provides the perfect environment for creativity to flourish, and we can’t wait to welcome our students into their new home.”

The Ropewalks is in the heart of Liverpool with a series of buildings undergoing regeneration by Urban Splash in the late 1990s; Vanilla offers workspaces from 283 sq ft to 7,881 sq ft while the neighbouring Tea Factory boasts 64,079 sq ft of innovative workspace featuring common spaces, high spec communal kitchens and high-speed fibre broadband.
Situated in the vibrant heart of Liverpool's independent cultural scene, both premises have attracted creatives across all industries thanks to surroundings which include art galleries, book and record shops, independent traders, eateries and fashion outlets oozing entrepreneurial energy.
Ryan Leigh of Urban Splash added: “We’ve always known the Ropewalks has a great personality with buildings that are well designed and have the character creative businesses seek. We're delighted to welcome businesses like Rare into our community - the perfect home for high talent, innovation and cultural growth. We look forward to seeing all of our clients soar in their new environment.”
