Urban Splash completes 65,000 sq ft deal with Amey

    03 September 2014

Award winning regeneration company Urban Splash has today announced the biggest private letting in the Liverpool region to services giant Amey – totaling 65,000 sq ft of space.

The letting is equivalent to approximately one-third of the entire reported take-up across the Liverpool region last year and sees Amey take out a new lease on its existing space at the Matchworks estate as well as adding a further 16,000 sq ft of offices. It is the 11th deal completed by Urban Splash at the development since January – demonstrating the company’s success in a highly competitive market.

Head of asset management at Urban Splash, Claire Thomas, oversaw the revised deal and said: “To retain a tenant of this size and calibre is testament to our offering as a landlord and I am delighted to accommodate Amey’s revised requirements with the additional space.

“Deals like these help the Matchworks continue to prove itself as one of the most pioneering commercial developments in the Merseyside region. This letting surpasses many in the region this year and is equivalent to approximately one third of the entire take up of all of the suburban regions in 2013 combined. Completing transactions of this scale reinforces the growing confidence in the market and drives employment within the local area. It is very encouraging to see massive corporations like Amey decide to anchor themselves here.”

The iconic Matchworks scheme – first redeveloped by Urban Splash in 2001 – is one of Liverpool's most creatively designed spaces; developed within the confines of the former Bryant and May Match Factory as Urban Splash lettings manager Nicky Harries explained: “The Matchworks is perfect for a variety of businesses; be it the likes of Amey or start-ups who benefit from the flexibility offered at Mersey House at the front of the site. We currently have units from as little as 119 sq ft at Mersey House up to 11,000 sq ft in the Matchworks, helping us cater for all kinds of requirements. We are even more accommodating because we offer the space on a range of terms, from monthly licenses to short form leases to standard leases; it provokes mixed tenure and has helped us create a fantastically diverse business community.”

The scheme is ideally placed for businesses looking to access Liverpool city centre by public transport and the motorway network with the M57, M62 and M56 all close by. Making international travel quick and convenient, Liverpool John Lennon Airport is less than two minutes drive away. Amenities surround the scheme including an on-site gym housed within the award-winning Matchbox building.
