    Senior Design Technician


    The Factory, Alfreton

    Hours of work

    37.5hrs – Monday – Friday, 8.30am – 4.30pm


    £42-£45k, commensurate with experience

    The role

    The main objective of the post is to provide a technical design and implementation service to the business in line with the modelling and creation of relevant design drawings.

    The role will be responsible for ensuring liaising with external consultants, suppliers and sub-contractors, whilst ensuring all models are to regulation compliance, and any changers are recorded through the correct document control processes.

    Key responsibilities

    - Produce 3D design models using relevant internal software from secured project information, incorporating technical data from suppliers

    - Produce relates drawing to manufacturing schedules and provide support where necessary

    - Engage with structural professional consultants, suppliers and technical bodies to gain and ensure compliance of the development of the product

    - Produce appropriate drawings to support site installation and sequencing of site programme

    - Ensure business complies with relevant CDM Regulations

    - Ensure design complies with Quality Assurance

    - To provide constant communication with all relevant internal and external parties as required

    - Maintenance and archiving drawing

    - Solve design issues and communicate accordingly

    - Produce quantity take offs for materials and issue them to appropriate teams

    - Communicate any changers or issues with the wider design team

    - Assist the factory team when queries arise and endeavour to provide a solution in a prompt manner

    - Challenge existing practices and identify best practice

    - Drive a culture of continuous improvement across the business

    - Monitor aspects of the project design ensuring cost control and cost reductions.

    - Assist in the interpretation concept design for Architects and US design team and developing efficient buildable designs to achieve a cost-efficient solution

    - Any other additional duties that may be deemed necessary to fulfil your duties.


    -3+ Years in relevant field

    - Timber frame experience
    - Have a proven track record in managing a design office
    - Experience in producing technical 3 dimensions (3D) drawings
    - Autodesk Revit essential
    - Familiarity with the modelling process in BIM
    - BIM Workflows
    - Autodesk Navisworks and Autocad
    - Experience in interpreting and writing relevant specification data

    Essential qualifications

    - Must have strong Revit skills

    - Relevant Design Qualification

    - Knowledge of appropriate IT Software packages

    - Knowledge of construction industry and UK Building Regulations

    - Knowledge of BIM Protocols
