A 2 minute read by Tom Bloxham

I was asked to contribute to this BBC Radio 4 feature on housebuilding and the growing trend of building homes in factories - which you can listen to in full here.

It explores the evolution of old fashioned pre-fabricated homes - through to the savvy modular Houses like ours, being produced now. Alongside my views, there were contributions from modular developers; from Legal and General to Ilke - each of whom hold similarly passionate views about the role of offsite production in 2019 and beyond.

If you have any interest in modular or the future of the way we’re building our homes in this country, I’d recommend you listen in.

The least qualified board member, Tom sold fire extinguishers door to door, studied a degree in politics, sold records then posters and ran a market stall down Affleck's Arcade.

He made more money sub-letting the space than selling his posters. That's how it started. Following setting up a pub business, nightclub and radio station, Tom, along with Jonathan Falkingham MBE, founded Urban Splash in 1993.
