HomeBuy Direct is a new Government shared equity scheme designed to help our customers into affordable home ownership. If you're eligible, you could get an interest-free loan (funded by the Government and Urban Splash) for up to 30% of the value of the property. You will need to fund the other 70% through a combination of mortgage and savings - usually borrowing 65% with a 5% deposit.*

We’ve successfully helped lots of happy first time buyers into their own homes with the First Time Buyer Initiative (FTBI) (download the FTBI Guide PDF) , since we launched it at Chimney Pot Park in Salford in 2007. As long as you can get a mortgage for a minimum of 50% of the value of the property then the Government pay a contribution for the balance and for the first three years there is nothing to pay on the share that the Government contributed.
