More nostalgia at Park Hill
In more New Islington news a bridge has been installed over the Rochdale Canal, linking New Islington with Ancoats Urban Village. The Gollifer Langston Architects designed structure features holes through which people can see the site. It will be clad then open to the public next month. In the last half of 2011 our commercial team completed deals on 122,000 sq ft of office, retail, industrial and leisure space. Tenants who've joined us include Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall, who opened a River Cottage restaurant at Royal William Yard and apparel retailers Vans and North Face, who both opened at Fort Dunlop.

Urban Splash, which is redeveloping the Park Hill estate, has applied for listed building consent to keep a neon sign recreating 'iconic' graffiti found at the complex.

New Islington has undergone a facelift in the past decade, with work on the area by developers Urban Splash, Manchester City Council and the Homes and Development Agency regenerating the rundown area.
