Smithfield Building houses 21 contemporary ground floor and basement retail units ranging from 446 sq ft to 5,600 sq ft. Smithfield Building is located right in the heart of Manchester's Northern Quarter; which has a rich and diverse mix of shops, creative agencies, restaurants and bars. Long established as Manchester's creative and bohemian area the Northern Quarter is an ideal location for businesses after something a little different.
At the turn of the century Smithfield Building was home to Affleck and Brown, Manchester's most famous department store, the 'Harrods of the north'. Its redevelopment in 1996 saw it transformed into 81 loft apartments and 21 ground floor retail units. The Victorian façade on the upper floors was renovated and all the retail units finished with contemporary frontages featuring stone and steel details. Internally each of the units has been finished to a high standard. Smithfield Building has elevations on Oldham Street, Hilton Street, Church Street and Tib Street. Situated just around the corner from Market Street, Smithfield Building is a short walk from Piccadilly Station the city's busiest mainline and Metrolink station.
